Winter is a perfect time for reflection, both on the past year, and the year ahead. As the festive period approaches, many of us we seek out community, care and connection.

Starting a new job might be something we tend to think about in January, with a fresh start in mind, however as we head towards positive changes, applying (or even just thinking about it) now means you're one step ahead for 2026.

Our team has been making a real difference for 25 years, by providing cleaning and domestic support to older people across Gateshead, and we're always looking for people to join our team.

Whether you're looking for a rewarding cleaning job in Gateshead before the new year, or want to hit the ground running in January, our blog explains all about our roles, and why they are so special.

Why Choose a Cleaning Role With Us?

There are many emotional and practical rewards of supporting others, and our Home Help Assistant roles go beyond "just a job". Every visit to provide cleaning, domestic tasks, shopping or errands to our clients helps build their confidence, provides companionship and boosts their wellbeing.

Our clients are often isolated, and have few or no support networks in place. Our home help assistants are therefore the highlight of the week. For our clients who have strong social networks, our visits are no less special to them. They tell us that it frees up time for their loves ones, so their loved ones can spend quality time with them when the visit, instead of looking after the weekly cleaning tasks. Every client has a different reason for needing and wanting our home help service, and the benefits they gain are just as unique and far reaching. Without our home help assistants, this positive impact wouldn't be possible.

Make a Real Difference in Your Community

Our charity provides older people with the weekly support they need to live independently, comfortably and safely in their own homes. With a package of support chosen by our clients, we take care of the cleaning tasks that benefit them most. We also do shopping, run errands and can provide a flexible one-to-one assisted outings service too.

Clients tell us that the support helps them to live in their own homes where they feel happiest. The greatest change clients tell us about is improvements to their mental health, and how often tell us how much they enjoy the routine of our weekly visits.

Our home help assistants feel the benefits too, of being part of a caring and community focused charity that creates a sense of purpose and belonging thanks to the support of our head office team, Liz and Nancy.
